Youth Ballroom Info Packet 2018

PLEASE NOTE: this 2018 Info Packet is similar to the 2019 Info Packet. The 2019 Info Packet will be posted here 2-3 weeks before the program begins.

The Youth Ballroom Dance Camp began in 1989 at Brigham Young University, and offers an exciting four days of dancing, socializing, and performing. Come to make new friends and enjoy dancing with the U.S. National Championship Ballroom Dance Company!


  • Learn from internationally acclaimed BYU Company directors and team members.
  • Participants are grouped by four skill levels (beginning, intermediate I, intermediate II, and advanced).
  • Experience up to 20 hours of training in a variety of dances.
  • Attend a closing banquet and participant showcase where each participant will perform what he or she has learned, followed by a BYU Ballroom Dance Company performance.
  • Spend a wild evening at Seven Peaks Water Park.
  • Attend a dance with youth from other BYU camps.
  • Enjoy a pizza/ice cream/dance party and awesome games night.
  • Receive a camp T-shirt.


Marci Edgington

Marci Edgington

BYU dance Faculty member Marci Edgington is the director of BYU's American Social Dance program. She is a member of the Imperial Teachers of Dance and has been instrumental in the development of the youth ballroom dance programs offered at BYU.

Curt Holman

Curt Holman

Curt Holman is a full-time faculty member and associate chair of the Department of Dance. He is the director of the Ballroom Dance Company Back-up Touring team and a duel licentiate member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. He and his wife Sharon are United States, British and World Professional Cabaret finalists. Curt has been a favorite instructor at our camp.

Class Option

Up to 20 hours of classroom instruction will be offered during the camp. Participants are grouped by four skill levels (Beginning, Intermediate I, Intermediate II, and Advanced).

Closing Banquet and Showcase

The camp concludes on Thursday evening with a banquet and dance showcase. Participants will perform what they have learned during the camp for their peers and parents. The evening includes a catered dinner (camp participants only), slide show of candid shots taken during the camp, performances by dance participants, and the BYU Ballroom Dance Company. Those attending the dance showcase who need special assistance and/or seating should contact our office two weeks in advance with their request. Spectators will not be allowed in the room until a specified time that will be listed on the camp schedule and handed out at camp check-in. Therefore, guests should be prepared to stand in line for a short time. Due to fire code restrictions, NO personal seats of any kind (besides those medically necessary) will be allowed in the room.

2018 Tuition

$375.00 Camp - NO Housing (lunch provided)
$550.00 Camp - WITH Housing and Meals
There is NO HOUSING available Thursday evening after the performance.

NOTE: Early Check-In for BYU Housing is no longer available. BYU Housing will be available the day each camp / workshop / intensive starts, but not before. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.


Registration Notes

  • To keep the gender enrollments equal for the Youth Ballroom Dance Camp, we have closed registration to FEMALE participants. We are still accepting MALE registrants.  
    • FEMALE WAITING LIST:  if openings become available in the camp, we will call those females on the list in the order in which they were placed on it. To be put on the Waiting List, please call Conferences and Workshops at (801-422-8713), or email us at  with your name, email address, and phone number.
  • ​Full tuition is due at the time of registration. No deposits will be accepted.
  • Information packets with updated check–in times will be available on our website two to four weeks before the camp begins.
  • A full refund (minus $25 nonrefundable) will be granted to all cancellations requested by 4:00 p.m. July 6, 2018 (one month before the workshop begins). No housing refunds are available after this date, though partial refunds for the workshop may be available on a case-by-case basis.
